
2012 Adobe® Design Achievement Awards: Call for Entries - Session III
The Adobe® Design Achievement Awards celebrate student and faculty achievement reflecting the powerful convergence of technology and the creative arts. The competition - which showcases individual and group projects created with industry-leading Adobe creative software - honours the most talented and promising student graphic designers, photographers, illustrators, animators, digital filmmakers, developers and computer artists from the world's top institutions of higher education.
Call for entries
Free to enter, the competition is open to students, faculty members, and staff members of higher education institutions throughout the world. Each participant may submit work up to 3 times in each of the 13 student categories or in 3 faculty and staff categories.
Eligibility
Contest is open to all individuals age 18 years or older who are full-time matriculated students in an accredited institution of higher education. The contest is not open to any resident of the following countries: Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, and Syria. United States export regulations prohibit the export of goods and services to Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan and Syria. Therefore residents of these countries/regions are not eligible to participate.
Categories
Both individuals and groups may enter up to three unique projects in the following categories during each judging phase. Students and faculty are eligible to enter again if they are not already holding a semifinalist status, either as an individual, team leader, or team member, within the same category:
- Interactive Media: Browser-Based Design, Non-Browser Based Design, Application Development, Mobile Design, Game Design, Installation Design, Innovation in Interactive Media in Education
- Video and Motion: Animation, Live Action, Motion Graphics, Innovation in Video and Motion in Education
- Traditional Media: Illustration, Packaging, Photography, Print Communications, Innovation in Traditional Media in Education
Judging
Judging will occur throughout the competition year in all student categories. Students are able to submit work for three judging sessions, and semifinalists will be selected during each judging session. To be eligible for submission, a student project must have been created during an academic term that occurred or will occur some time from May 2011 through June 2012.
2012 ADAA judging schedule
For entries submitted and finalised in student categories:
- 28 November 2011 - 27 January 2012
Semifinalists announced in February 2012 - 28 January - 27 April 2012
Semifinalists announced in May 2012 - 28 April - 22 June 2012
Semifinalists announced in July 2012
2012 faculty and staff submissions close on 22 June 2012. Semifinalists will be announced in July 2012.
All the work of semifinalists will be judged in person by the official judging panel by 15 August 2012. Finalists will be announced 1 September 2012 on the ADAA website.Prizes
Finalists will receive Adobe software and a trip to Los Angeles, California, United States, where they will be honoured in an awards ceremony during the 2012 Adobe MAX Conference set for 20-24 October 2012. Category winners also will receive a cash award of USD $3000.

Adobe Awards Wings mobile app
The Adobe Design Achievement Awards has released its new mobile app – Adobe Awards Wings! The app encourages everyone to Create Your Wings and Fly, allowing users to insert a pair of wings into photos taken on their mobile devices. Photos will demonstrate the many unique inspirations from the worldwide ADAA community. Users can add wings onto their favorite objects or landmarks, then share their creations with one another by uploading them to the ADAA Wings Gallery on Facebook.
