Drip : Project by Jennifer Yani

Drip is designed to promote awareness of the water crisis we are currently facing word-wide. The water bottles (one containing reclaimed and the other desalinated water) are in the form of an IV bag. It tackles the issue in a confronting way by tying life and death over water. It tries to send a message that if we do not use water wisely or start drinking reclaimed/ desalinated water then we may need an IV bag hooked into our body.

Drip also comes with a water encyclopedia, working into the confronting medical aesthetic, it is a series of medical clipboards with information on water. The first volume is an introduction to the water crisis. It looks at the facts and statistic on water, drought in Australia and information on reclaimed and desalinated water.

About Message in a bottle

Third year Communication Design Students at Monash University were encouraged to participate in the Aspen Design Challenge 'Designing Water's Future' by responding to the environmental issue of buying drinking water in plastic bottles. The Message in a Bottle required students to develop a campaign to discourage the use of bottled water through the sale of bottled water. The ironical message would imply that this is the last bottle of water you will buy.

Students were asked to design and brand water bottles for desalinated water and for reclaimed water (recycled sewage) so as to highlight the urgency of the issue. The water bottle was also designed to promote the sale of the ultimate resource book on water. This "Aquapedia" would be the definitive book on water and could be purchased on line.
