About the design

The intent was to merge Flash technologies such as Papervision3D, WiiFlash, and SmartFox with virtual reality. What was eventually developed was an original, innovative desktop application game that utilises Wii remotes and head tracking. With included multiplayer functionality, virtual reality game play can be shared with others across the web. Fourmation is not just a game, it is an experience. Developed entirely in ActionScript® 3, Fourmation shows what can be possible with the Adobe Flash Platform. Fourmation was created as a senior project by digital media students at Drexel University.

About the Adobe Design Achievement Awards

Throughout its nine-year history, the Adobe Design Achievement Awards (ADAA) has honoured the most talented and promising student graphic designers, photographers, illustrators, animators, digital filmmakers, developers and computer artists from the world's top institutions of higher education to celebrate student achievement reflecting the powerful convergence of technology and the creative arts.

Students can showcase their talent in 12 media categories:

1. Interactive Media: Browser-Based Design, Non-Browser Based Design, Application Development, Installation Design and Mobile Design.
2. Motion Media: Animation, Live Action and Motion Graphics.
3. Traditional Media: Illustration, Packaging, Photography, and Print Communications.

This year, the competition received a record 3243 entries. Students from all over the world submitted their work however only 28 student projects were chosen as finalists. The creative artwork of these outstanding young students is displayed in this gallery.
