
Jamer Hunt contributed his reflections as part of the Icograda Design Education Manifesto 2011 update. In his essay Jamer advocates that designers demonstrate their role as strategic, critical thinkers going well beyond aesthetic considerations. He also describes the daunting challenge before design students who must be both specialised in their practice while also flexible generalists – able to rapidly acquire new skills and knowledge.

A few months ago, Swinburne University of Technology announced the accreditation of its postgraduate programs in Design Anthropology and is now accepting applications for start in late February 2011. Dr. Elizabeth (Dori) Tunstall (Associate Professor in Design Anthropology and Associate Dean, Learning and Teaching, at Swinburne) gives us all the details.

Adobe, in collaboration with Icograda, announced the winners of the 11 annual Adobe Design Achievement Awards at an awards ceremony held on 23 October in Taipei, Taiwan (Chinese Taipei). Student and faculty designs were recognised in 15 categories across Interactive Media, Mobile Design, Video and Motion, and Traditional Media.
