(ADM) is proud to invite you to the International Federation on Ageing’s 9th Global Conference and Expo Ageing & Design which will take place in Montréal, Canada, from 4-7 September 2008. This event will combine the IFA’s biannual flagship global conference on ageing with the international debut of our new exhibition series on Ageing and Design.

Please take the time to explore this website to discover what this major gathering is all about and what Montréal, a UNESCO City of Design, has to offer. We look forward to welcoming you in 2008!

ADM and the IFA would like to acknowledge the generous financial support of our principal partner, AXA Canada.

SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS
Deadline for abstracts extended: 30 May 2008

Abstracts have been coming in at a fast pace, including many from developing countries. In response to many requests, the submission deadline for abstracts has been extended to May 30. Your contribution is vital to the success of the Conference.

Abstracts for a symposium, workshop, poster and/or paper presentation may be submitted online through the Conference website.

Submissions should be a maximum of 300 words and clearly outline the work that will be presented at the Conference. Note: All presenters will be required to register for the Conference.

THEMES
The conference programme is underpinned by three major documents: the United Nations Principles for Older Persons, the UN Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing and the World Health Organization’s Active Ageing Policy Framework.

The programme will examine the impact and relationship of design against these three themes:
  • Health
  • Participation
  • Security
Design is a major component that must be given greater relevance towards improving the quality of life of our older citizens.

A fourth component of the conference programme will focus on the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing, providing participants the venue to examine achievements since the 2nd World Assembly on Ageing, held in Madrid in 2002, and to look at future opportunities to maintain focus on the needs of older people.
