CALL FOR PAPERS: SEOUL DESIGN CONFERENCE
(SEOUL DESIGN OLYMPIAD 2008)
The city of Seoul invites design professionals to present their papers at the first Seoul Design Conference, part of the Seoul Design Olympiad 2008. This will be an international forum for designers, educators, professionals and urban policy planners from South Korea and abroad to meet and exchange knowledge and insights related to the present and future of desirable design.
Background
The first Seoul Design Conference will feature keynote speeches, discussions and presentations under the theme of 'Design is AIR'. Participants from academic and industrial circles will discuss design issues concerning design expansion, convergence, sustainability, spirituality and design flows.
Seoul intends to develop new discourses on urban design by studying the cases of cultural, ecological and creative cities, by promoting discussions and through the presentation of papers on the future direction of urban design around the world.
Eligibility
Design-related papers (oral or poster presentation) that show significant, original and previously unpublished cases and research.
Papers previously published in academic journals, and papers not considered academic are not eligible for presentation.

Suggested topics of interest include, but are not restricted to:
Papers will be evaluated by expert panelists consisting of world-renowned design scholars and professors.

Submission guidelines
- Abstract must be a maximum of 400 words, clearly identify the title, author(s), nationality, affiliated organisations, address, phone number, fax number and email.
- The paper must be no less than 10 pages (A4) and a maximum of 4000 words.
- The poster must be 800mm x 1600 mm, on one page. Please refer to the website for details on poster submissions.
- Please submit the full paper or poster after the abstract is accepted.
- If accepted the paper must be personally presented at the Seoul Design Conference by the author.
- Those who submit the full paper can make presentations, whereas those who submit only abstracts cannot present papers.
