The Icograda General Assembly 23 will take place from 24-25 October 2009, as the first two days of Xin: Icograda World Design Congress 2009. This will be an historic occasion, marking the first time in Icograda's almost 50 year history that the General Assembly has been held in China.

Who will be attending

Attendance at the General Assembly is by invitation only to Icograda Member organisations and invited Observers. In Beijing, we will welcome delegates from more than 30 countries to the Meeting.

The General Assembly agenda

Icograda Members meet every two years as the General Assembly to consider:

• Icograda policy and programmes
• Reports of the Council
• Financial Statements
• Admission of new Members    
• Venue for the next General Assembly   
• Items proposed by Members

Key items for consideration at the General Assembly 23 include a commitment to recognise sustainable practice as a key component of professional communication design; new best practice documents on design exhibitions, conferences, and serving as a member of a jury; and advancing a unified voice for design at the global level through collaboration and alliance building.

During the General Assembly, members actively participate in a  workshops session of their choice. Results from these workshops greatly influence the strategic direction of the organisation as they capture the concerns and recommendations of the membership.

The General Assembly 23 will include three workshops offering Members the opportunity to collectively define and articulate their aspirations for Icograda. The sessions are:

Venue

The General Assembly 23 will take place at the Gehua New Century Hotel Beijing, which served as the 2008 Beijing International Media Center and is the first media themed hotel in China. Ideally located in the heart of Beijing’s Olympic Park, the hotel provides easy access to the downtown area.
