Beijing is definitely one of the most visited cities in the world. Millions of visitors flock to Beijing every year with the sole intention of visiting the capital, an eclectic blend of old and new. Beijing is a city that never sleeps; there is always something to do, no matter what hour of the day it is or what your interests are.




Locate the key Congress venues and recommended hotels around the city. Plan to visit key landmarks and creative districts around Beijing.

There are hundreds of tourist scenic spots and historical sites – some walkable, some a little far from the city center. If you are only able to spare a few days, economise by visiting these attractions and you will have experienced at least the essence of Beijing.


Map of Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA)

The Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) is the only national art education institution in China directly under the Ministry of Education. Tracing back to the National Beijing Art School founded in 1918, CAFA was incorporated in 1950. The design programme at CAFA was renewed in 1995, and became the School of Design in 2002, offering undergraduate, graduate and PhD degrees in visual communication design, product design, fashion design, photography, digital media, design theory and history.

Beijing's Subway Syatem

This rapid transit rail network serves the urban and suburban districts of Beijing municipality. With eight lines, over 200 km of tracks and 123 stations currently in operation and daily ridership averaging 2.565 million, it is the oldest and busiest subway system in Mainland China.

A flat fare of RMB(¥) 2.00 with unlimited transfers applies to all lines except the Airport Express, which costs ¥ 25.00.


Useful stops

On Line 1, Tian'anmen West is the closest stop to the National Opera House, venue for the Opening Ceremonies of the Congress on 26 October (right at the exit C)


On Line 2, Andingmen is a close stop for the Gehua New Century Hotel, where the Icograda General Assembly will be held from 24-25 October

On Line 10, Taiyanggong is a close stop for the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA), where the parallel sessions of the International Conference and the IEN Conference will be held from 27-30 October, along with several of the Congress exhibitions and Beitucheng is a close stop for the Gehua New Century Hotel, where the Icograda General Assembly will be held from 24-25 October.
