Call for interest: Icograda Design Week 2011-2012
Icograda is seeking Expressions of Interest for our 2011-2012 Icograda Design Week schedule. Up to five proposals will be approved: two in 2011 and three in 2012.
Submissions are welcome from Icograda's global network. For the 2011-2012 calendar, priority will be given to qualified submissions from Latin America, Africa, India and Eastern Europe.
Icograda's current event calendar includes:
Optional events may be proposed, such as workshops, award schemes and exhibitions.
Submissions that incorporate the Icograda Stakeholders Meeting and Executive Board Meeting into an existing international event hosted by a Member organisation will be accepted.
Further details about Icograda Design Week are described in the Event Toolkit available to Icograda Members through the Members' Area. Members are encouraged to read the document ʻAbout Icograda Design Week' which describes the roles and responsibilities of Icograda and the Host Member Organisation (HMO).
Submissions that are not led by an Icograda Member organisation (professional association, promotional body, corporate or educational institution) will not be accepted.
Submissions should be received by Icograda Secretariat by 8 October 2009.
All submissions will be reviewed by the Icograda Executive Board at their 22-23 October meeting in Beijing, China.
Icograda may select hosts based on the submissions received, or short list candidates and make the final selection in January 2010.

About Icograda Design Week
Programming of an Icograda Design Week is developed by the host Member organisation and its core components are:- an international conference that has a professional or educational focus
- a meeting of Icograda stakeholders, including Members from the region
- a meeting of the Icograda Executive Board
- a Design Trade fair showcasing design-led businesses

Benefits of hosting an Icograda Design Week
Past Icograda Design Weeks have achieved the following outcomes:- Attendance by design leaders and policy makers from more than 22 countries.
- Local, national and international press coverage for the national design industry and host city.
- Parallel meetings with key design policy stakeholders, including government and academic leaders.
- Engagement with local, national and international sponsors and partners
- International exposure with international organisations such as UNESCO and UNDP.
Media exposure
Through the International Design Media Network (IDMN), Icograda will negotiate media partnerships to provide international promotion for the Icograda Design Week. The network includes 30 international design publications.Who attends Icograda events
Icograda Design Week are open to the public. Our audience includes design professionals, entrepreneurs, policymakers, faculty, researchers, design and visual communication students, journalists.Submitting an Expression of Interest

Evaluation
Submissions will be evaluated based on alignment with Icograda's strategic goals and objectives. Preference will be given to submissions that:- clearly advance Icograda's mission and vision through their programming, including fostering international collaboration between design disciplines to advance the collective interests of the design profession;
- include financial support of government, corporate and industry partners.
- demonstrate a previous track record of organising successful international events;
- demonstrate the organisational and administrative capacity to support an international event;
- have appropriate infrastructure (meeting venues, accommodations, transportation) to host an international event.
Financial information
Successful candidates will be required to submit a financial deposit of CDN $10,000 within 30 days following approval of a proposal to host an Icograda Design Week. This deposit is non-refundable and will form part of the event budget.Enquiries
