Through the theme of 'Optimism', Icograda Design Week Brisbane 2010 will promote dialogue on issues shaping the nature and relevance of communication design practice today.

Optimism 2010 recognises the valuable contribution designers make to delivering benefits and results for business, community and culture. It will showcase businesses that embrace the power of good design to gain a competitive edge. Icograda Design Week Brisbane 2010 will provide a platform for conversation regarding design-led thinking and consciousness for a changing world.

Optimism 2010 aims to inspire, challenge and engage, to provoke thinking, and to create change.

Whatever the colour, form or function 'Optimism' means to you, join designers and colleagues from around the world in celebration of creativity, communication and collaboration.

About the event

International Conference

This two-day event will showcase current topics and their everyday practical applications and is expected to attract 700 design professionals, including business and policy leaders, CEOs and senior management from design agencies in the Australia and Asia-Pacific regions.

Education Workshop

2010 is the tenth anniversary of the Icograda Education Manifesto. The  programme includes a one-day student workshop.

Icograda Regional Meeting

Icograda Members and invited stakeholders will exchange information on the state of design policy and promotion.

Design Trade Fair

Event venues

Optimism: Icograda Design Week Brisbane will take place at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, located on the South Bank riverside in the heart of Brisbane.

The opening reception for VIP guests and the delegates will be hosted at the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) - Queensland's premier visual arts institution and a leading art museum nationally.

About the Australian Graphic Design Association

With more than 2 600 members distributed throughout the creative, visual communication, applied design and technology sectors, the Australian Graphic Design Association (AGDA) is dedicated to advancing the profession through an interrelated program of state, national and international activities in education, advocacy and professional development. Many of these activities are also available to the wider design and business communities.

AGDA's goal is the establishment of fair and productive working relationships between graphic designers and their clients. They do this by providing designers with the tools and information to manage their professional careers. AGDA also works on increasing awareness of the value and importance of graphic design in business, education and culture.
