
IDENTITY FOR THE SHILLA HOTELS AND RESORTS

About the design
The Shilla Hotels and Resorts chain is owned by the Samsung corporation
and is their flagship property for their travel and hospitality
industry. The identity for the most deluxe Korean hotel is the symbolic
national flower "Rose of Sharon". The new identity was launched in 1994
to mark the 20th anniversary of its opening. The system is implemented
in a variety of applications from signage, vehicles, guest room
amenities to uniforms and front desk operational items.
About the designer
Don Ryun Chang is currently
professor at the visual design department of Hongik University in Seoul
Korea as well as vice president for international affairs for VIDAK
(visual information
design association of Korea)which is an icograda member. He has worked
as Creative Director for Interbrand DC & A and implemented many
successful identities including M.com, Santa Fe, Raemian, Meritz
Securities and Maekyung newspaper. Most recently he was a speaker at
the Icograda Millennium Congress in Seoul.
