'MAGPIE PRODUCTIONS' AND 'INKLING PRESS' LOGOS
Designer: Susan Colberg
Member of: GDC, Canada
About the design
The 'magpie productions' logo was designed for a small production house of poetry CDs (related to, but separate from Inkling press). The logo shows a magpie stealing the "o" from the word "productions". The "o" echoes the shape of a CD. The type face is the same as for Inkling Press: the two ventures are linked, but distinct from one another.
The 'inkling press' logo was designed for a small, independent publisher of poetry books -- a low budget venture with a small, but enthusiastic staff. The client stressed the importance of a link with the past. The link was achieved through the selection of the typeface for the words which are set in small (lowercase) letterforms and are punctuated by small (but enthusiastic!) inkblots.
