About the design
The picture was taken in the Asian part of the former USSR.
The boy in the front walks to school in the morning.
In the afternoon his little sister uses their mutual pair of shoes to walk the same way.

The poster was used for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

About the designer
Ben Bos (1930) studied in Amsterdam. At the outset of his career he was a copywriter and an industrial editor, later to switch over to art direction and graphic design. In 1963 he joined the newly founded design group Total Design, of which he was a creative director for 25 years.  Since 1994 he owns his small design studio. "Design of a lifetime" is the title of his book, published at the occasion of his recent exhibtion in De Beyerd, Breda.
