Australia Post, Modular Art Walls

Designed by: Gary Domoney

About the design

Australia Post approached Spark to develop artworks for 17 floors of their new corporate headquarters. The approach to each artwork is unique. Based on selected stamps from the past 20 years, we took the essence of the stamp's subject matter and built on its inherent visual qualities. The Lifesavers artwork presented Spark with the perfect opportunity to have a little tongue-in-cheek fun. "Why not make up the lifesavers scene out of Lifesavers confectionery?" A completely left field thought, but with some initial testing we found "this might actually work". At arms length the artwork appears as just a patchwork of confectionery, however from several metres the artwork reveals itself as an amazing beach scene encompassing all aspects of surf lifesaving. The image is made up of over 60 000 Lifesavers, all arranged by colour and tone to paint a picture of Australian Surf Lifesaving in a way never seen before.
