Icograda is a council of independent member organisations, forming a global network. Icograda has 56 Professional Members, 18 Promotional Members, 11 Affiliate Members, 86 Education Members, 5 Corporate Members, 2 Observers and hundreds of Icograda Friends in 67 countries and regions worldwide, sharing common concerns, commitments and standards.

Icograda membership categories
International organisations concerned with professional practice in fields related to communication design.
Professional Members are membership-based organisations having national status, the majority of whose members are professional communication designers or who belong to other areas of art and design, and whose objects are to influence and raise standards of communication design.
Promotional organisations and foundations having national status, contributing to the general good of professional designers and to the raising of design standards, who do not admit individual members, may be admitted as Promotional Members.
Participation in the IEN is open to all institutions offering post-secondary programmes in communication design that are two years or more in length. Networks of education institutes that include six or more members may also apply.
Corporate Members are incorporated companies committed to the value and advancement of communication design.
Icograda Friends are a worldwide network of individuals and corporations who share a common interest in communication design. Friends come from diverse backgrounds, cultures and social structures.
At the Icograda General General Assembly 22 in 2007, Icograda's Members ratified the creation of an Observer membership category to encourage newly-formed associations in building international networks.
