Thanks largely to Hiroshi Kojitani's personal efforts and the generous financial support he was able to help raise from his fellow designers within the Japanese Graphic Design Association (JAGDA), this network of Friends began in 1991. Hiroshi produced the first Friends leaflets, promotional materials, Tshirts, buttons etc., which were initially distributed at the Icograda Congress in Montreal in September 1991.
