Our Mission

The role of the SDGQ is to promote graphic design and contribute to its advancement by supporting the professional and economic development of its members.

At SDGQ, we believe that we, graphic designers, must take up the following challenges:
- Demystify the profession and show our contribution to society.
- To not live in the shadows; in other words, to know and to make ourselves known.
- To show the value of our profession, for the profit of our members, of our clients, and of the general public.

With this intention, we pledge the following:
To promote graphic design
- by establishing partnerships with organisations such as the Institut de Design de Montréal (IDM), the Graphic Designers of Canada (GDC), Icograda, as well as the colleges and universities where this discipline is taught;
- by organising or supervising contests which celebrate excellence and which publicize the successes of our members;
- by maintaining links with the media and the community.

To contribute to the advancement of graphic design:
- by clearly identifying the fields of intervention of the graphic designer;
- by developing the relationship between the client and designer;
- by maintaining links with professionals in other disciplines;
- by representing our members to government institutions;
- and through the medium of education;
- by enlarging our international influence;
- by evaluating the communicational impact of design;
- by taking a position in stakes which concern us.

To contribute to the professional and economic development of our members:
- by supporting training through the diffusion of publications, conferences, forums of exchange, etc.;
- by weaving durable bonds between our members;
- by proposing normative tools, such as a code of ethics which responds to the interests of our members and which make it possible to better serve their clients and the general public.
