Madrid (Spain) - The Designers Association of Madrid, DIMAD, and BID’s Advisory Committee make a first call for Ibero-American designers to present their work at the 1st Ibero-American Biennial of Design, aimed at showing, publicising and fostering the most representative, outstanding and avant-garde design proposals in Latin America.

Brno (Czech Republic) - The International Jury of the 23rd International Biennial of Graphic Design Brno 2008 worked at the Moravian Gallery in Brno from 15–16 June 2008 to select from among the exhibited works the best ones that will be awarded any of the Brno Biennial 2008prestigious prizes.

Adelaide (Australia) - Sydney-based designer Mark Gowing has become the first ever Australian to win the Gold Medal at the prestigious Warsaw International Poster Biennale. Announced at a reception in Warsaw on Saturday, 7 June, Mark Gowing's poster "Oil Kills Peace" was awarded the prestigious Gold Medal in the category Ideological Posters.

Midrand (South Africa) - The second Africa Design Day, hosted by the SABS Design Institute, South Africa, on behalf of Network of Africa Designers (NAD) was held in Midrand on 17 and 18 June. Designers, design educators, decision makers and other interested parties attended this highly informative and inspirational event.

Cannes (France) - Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival has announced the winners for the newly launched category, Design Lions. From the 140 entries announced in the shortlist last Tuesday, the Judges identified the Grand Prix, Gold, Silver and Bronze finalists.

Italy - EIDD Design for All Europe invites submissions of posters, institutional videos and guerrilla marketing tools dedicated to capturing the differing perception of its work in the field of Design for All, i.e. design for social inclusion, all over the world and applying it for promotional purposes.

Milan (Italy) - On 6 June 2008, Wolda, theWorldwide Logo Design Annual, and some of the winning logos from Eulda (the Europe-only predecessor of Wolda) were presented to the Art Directors Club of Europe during its first ever design & advertising conference, Syzygy, held at the CaixaForum in Barcelona.
