London (United Kingdom) - A higher than anticipated number of entries in the newly launched Design Lions competition has prompted the appointment of three more judges, the organisers of the International Advertising Festival announced today.

Vienna (Austria) - The call for entries is open for the Joseph Binder Award 2008: Graphic Design & Illustration. This international performance review is a biannual independent competition for graphic design and illustration (2D).

London (United Kingdom) - Haymarket Media Group today released ownership of Eye magazine, an international quarterly review of graphic design, to its editor, John L Walters.

Amsterdam (Holland) - The Graphic and Typographic Design work of Lebanese-Dutch designer Tarek Atrissi will be exhibited at the De Levante Foundation in Amsterdam from 2 May - 22 June 2008.

Stockholm (Sweden) - On 15 May, design legends and hopefuls from 15 different European nations will get together in Stockholm, Sweden, for the European Design Conference.

Montreal (Canada) - Icograda endorses Cannes Design Lions. "The Festival has an exceptional reputation in the creative community for its international scope and vision. Our endorsement celebrates the positioning of communication design as an integral process in brand building and the Festival's commitment to meeting Icograda's best practices for design competitions."

Brussels (Belgium) - The major world competition exclusively devoted to packaging design, Pentawards 2008, which is now endorsed by Icograda, will be judged by an international jury (Europe, the Americas, Asia-Pacific) composed of eminent marketing specialists and designers. Some are 2007 Pentawards winners.

Kyoto (Japan) - The Kyoto Design Declaration was signed in Kyoto on the 28th of March 2008 by the Executive Board of Cumulus.

Montreal (Canada) – Effective 1 April 2008, Icograda is introducing its first major new membership category since 2003. Companies committed to the value and advancement of communication design and who endorse Icograda’s professional best practices are now eligible to apply for membership.

Ljubljana (Slovenia) - At its General Assembly timed to coincide with the Slovenian Presidency of the European Union, the BEDA membership attending from 23 European countries, elected the new Board of Directors for the term 2008-2010 and ratified three new members.
