Ms. Teal Triggs
Head of Research
Teal Triggs is Head of Research and Course Director of the MA Design Writing Criticism at the School of Graphic Design, as well as Co-Director, Information Environments, all at the London College of Communication, University of the Arts.

As well as an educator, Teal is also a Design Historian and co-founder of the Women's Design + Research Unit (WD+RU). She has lectured widely and her writings on graphic design, typography, education and feminism have appeared in numerous books and design publications internationally. She is co-editor of the interdisciplinary journal Visual Communication (Sage Publications, Ltd.) and has edited several books including Communicating Design: Essays in Visual Communication; and most recently co-edited with Roger Sabin: 'Below Critical Radar': Fanzines and Alternative Comics From 1976 to Now. She is currently working on a new book on experimental typography due out next year (Thames & Hudson).

The Women's Design + Research Unit (WD+RU) was founded in 1994, and aims to raise awareness about women working in the area of visual communication. Amongst WD+RU's projects are the experimental typeface Pussy Galore (Fuse 12), a website on social responsibility (www.deskwithdrawers.org), 'WD+RU Broadcast', a short documentary film on women working in the graphic design profession. Teal is also a signator of the First Things First Manifesto 2000.
