Beijing (China) - bt'09 - Beijing Typography Exhibition 2009 will be one of the official exhibitions of Xin: Icograda World Design Congress 2009 in Beijing, under the theme of "Typography, Unity with New Life."

San Jose (United States) - With just under a 20% increase in submissions compared to last year, the Adobe Design Achievement Awards 2009 Call for Entries closed on Friday, 5 June with a total of 3245 entries. Students from higher-level institutions all over the world rushed to upload their submissions as the competition came to an end.

Ottawa (Canada) - On 25 April 2009, the Society of Graphic Designers of Canada (GDC), at its National Annual General Meeting in Winnipeg, Manitoba, honoured Edmonton educator and designer Sue Colberg with Fellowship status. Only 12 other women have previously received this honour.

Seoul (Korea) - The Seoul Design Olympiad 2009 (SDO09) is a world design festival, organised by the city of Seoul to enhance and promote Seoul as a world design center. Now in its second year, this year's overarching theme is 'i-design'.

Melbourne (Australia) – The Design Institute of Australia has inducted five new designer members into the DIA's Hall of Fame for 2008. Of these, the Dean of the Faculty of Art & Design at Monash University, Professor John Redmond, has been recognised with a Hall of Fame award.
