Montreal (Canada) - The upcoming Icograda General Assembly 23, taking place for the first time in China from 24-25 October 2009, marks a historic occasion for Icograda. It will be the first time that Icograda Education Network (IEN) Members will have a voting voice in the general business on the meeting's agenda.

New York (United States) - The AIGA board of directors, in consultation with a number of interested members, recently reviewed AIGA's long-standing policy against spec work in the context of changing dynamics in the marketplace.

Johannesburg (South Africa) - DESIGN> magazine released its 13 edition on Africa Day, 25 May, focusing on the theme 'Afrika'. The spelling symbolises an ethos of self-definition and self-determination and recognises the fact that the letter 'c' is not used in most African languages.

Melbourne (Australia) - The call for entries for the Australian Graphic Design Association (AGDA) Poster Annual 2009 is now open. Both professional and students from any field of design as well as those practicing design-related fields are invited to submit designs according to the theme, Sampling the Future.

Madrid (Spain) - Organised by the apd, Association for Management Progress, and ddi, Spanish Public Corporation for the Development of Design and Innovation, the Design Innovation Forum will take place on 8 June 2009 at Palacio Municipal de Congresos, Madrid.

Tehran (Iran) - Coinciding with World Graphics Day, the Iranian Graphic Designers Society (IGDS) hosted Graphic Design Week Tehran 2009, from 23-27 April 2009.

Chaumont (France) - The first, second, third award winners and the recipient of the Icograda Excellence Award have been announced for the International Poster and Graphic Design Festival of Chaumont, an Icograda endorsed event.

Zürich (Switzerland) - The online gallery of winners is now available for the 2009 ED-Awards, an Icograda endorsed event. Presented during European Design Week in Zürich, Switzerland, the ED-Awards celebrate European design with all its regional distinctive elements as well as its common grounds.

Milano (Italy) - The Good 50x70 Jury has finished its deliberations and selected the 210 best responses to this year's Call for Entries. This year the judging was harder than ever due to the vast number of entries received (4210), while all the judges agreed the standard of entries was significantly higher than previous years.

Beijing (China) - Two additional keynotes speakers have been announced for Xin: Icograda World Design Congress 2009 Beijing. Joining Sol Sender (United States) at the International Conference will be Jan van Toorn (the Netherlands) and Patrick Whitney (United States).
