Beijing (China) - The 2nd China Trade in Services Congress will be held at China National Convention Center in Beijing on 24-25 November 2009. Within this event, the Design Services Specialised Trade Talks will be organised by the Beijing Industrial Design Center.

London (United Kingdom) - Leading designer David Worthington, Chair of the Design Skills Alliance, has appealed to designers to take urgent action to sort out their professional skills as new figures from the Office of National Statistics reveal that only 8.9 per cent had received job-related training, compared to 15.7 per cent of architects and 16.2 per cent of civil engineers.

Montreal (Canada) - The 2009-2011 Icograda Executive Board elected at the Icograda General Assembly 23 on 25 October has already begun to set its agenda for the term. On 29 October, the 10-person board met at the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) Art Museum in Beijing, China for a day-long session.

Montreal (Canada) - On 26 October 2009, Prof. Ahn Sang-Soo, long considered one of the most influential designers in East Asia, received the Icograda Education Award at Xin: Icograda World Design Congress 2009 in Beijing, China.

Beijing (China) - The Icograda General Assembly, meeting from 24-25 October in Beijing, China formally adopted a framework for sustainable practice policy development. Led by the Executive Board, the process was championed by Treasurer David Berman (Canada) in consultation with several Icograda Members and stakeholders throughout the 2007-2009 term.

Montreal (Canada) - On 26 October, as part of the opening ceremonies of Xin: Icograda World Design Congress 2009, Don Ryun Chang honoured Pan Gongkai (China) and Robert L. Peters (Canada) with the 2009 President's Award.

San Jose (United States) - At the Icograda World Design Congress 2009 in Beijing, Adobe Systems Incorporated announced the winners of the ninth annual Adobe Design Achievement Awards (ADAA), recognised as one of the world's most prestigious student design and film competitions.

Madrid (Spain) - The Spanish Public Corporation for the Development of Design and Innovation (ddi) and Banesto have signed an agreement that establishes a continuum of collaboration between the two organisations to support businesses submitting projects with a strong component of design innovation.

Memphis (United States) - AIGA, the professional association for design, unveiled a new sustainability framework, The Living Principles for Design, at the AIGA Design Conference in Memphis. The Living Principles distill the collective wisdom found in decades of sustainability theories and bring them to life in a quadruple-bottom-line framework.
