Copenhagen/Brussels (Denmark/Belgium) - The United Nations in Brussels, in collaboration with the Nordic Council of Ministers, has launched an Icograda-endorsed European ad competition called 'The Future We Want - Drop by Drop,' that brings together water, the green economy and Rio+20.

London (United Kingdom) - The Design Council (United Kingdom) has announced the publication of the report from the Design Commission's independent enquiry into design education. A principle sponsor of the enquiry, the council noted that the report highlights the importance of design in schools, and the recognition that design education is fundamental to national prosperity through maintaining the UK's strong design industry.

Now in its second year, Posterheroes is an International social communication contest featuring 50x70 posters. The projects must be based on the themes of consumption and of conscious use of energetic and material resources, underlining the role of the user as an important actor in the global consumption/saving equilibrium.

The Ukrainian Association of Graphic Designers is organising the eighth edition of its international triennial to showcase significant achievements of the world design community on ecological topics. The organising committee seeks posters created between 2009 and 2012 of 60×90 cm or larger to be submitted by 1 February 2012. Entry is free of charge.

San Jose (United States) - Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) has announced the call for entries for the twelfth annual Adobe® Design Achievement Awards (ADAA). The competition recognises the best student graphic designers, photographers, illustrators, animators, digital filmmakers, developers and computer artists from higher education institutions worldwide who have created innovative projects using Adobe software.

Zagreb (Croatia) - The Croatian Association of Artists of Applied Arts (ULUPUH) has announced the call for submissions to Zgraf 11 - an Icograda-endorsed international triennial exhibition of graphic design and visual communications. Held since 1975, it is the biggest exhibition of graphic design in Croatia. Over the years, it has gathered designers, theorists and critics from around the world to bring out the fundamental problems and position of design in contemporary society.

Icograda names Herman Pi'ikea Clark and Russell Kennedy as 2011-2013 INDIGO Advisory Group Co-Chairs

London (United Kingdom) - Quentin Blake, one of Britain's best-loved illustrators and the man who created the world-famous images of Roald Dahl characters including the Big Friendly Giant and Matilda, was named the winner of the 2011 Prince Philip Designers Prize by HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh at a ceremony at the Design Council in London on 29 November.

Montreal (Canada) - Iridescent: Icograda Journal of Design Research has appointed Teal Triggs as Supervising Editor. Teal will serve as supervising Editor for the 2011-2013 term overseeing the journal's activities and aligning it with international research standards.

Melbourne (Australia) - The Participatory Innovation Conference 2012 (PIN-C 2012) has announced the keynote speakers for the five conference tracks. Swinburne University Faculty of Design, in collaboration with SPIRE of the University of Southern Denmark, will host the symposium 12-14 January 2012 in Melbourne (Australia). Five conference tracks explore sources of innovation and ways to invite outside participation.
